Holiday Knitting

December 11th, 2007 by Leah

How many of you commit yourself to knitting Christmas gifts and find yourself knitting past Christmas to meet those goals?   Grrrr.  Last year, I finished my last gift in February.  I said then that if I had something made, it would be given as a gift, but I was not promising any gift if it was not made yet.  So, this year was much less stressful and I don’t find myself frantically knitting to meet a deadline.  I am working on one project that will be a gift, but should finish easily in time without sweating it.

With all that being said, I opened a blog that I read and got quite a laugh from the post about gift knitting.  I thought you would appreciate this:

Progress

December 5th, 2007 by Leah

There is so much progress happening at my house, but I can’t tell you about it because some of it is top secret (Christmas stuff, ya know).   Suffice it to say that things are happening and in a good way.

Christmas parties are starting to happen.  I went to one last Saturday night, two are scheduled for this Saturday, Little Women play on Sunday and then two parties next Friday night.  That’s more partying than I do all year!  I guess I have to save up?!   Energy that is…

On the knitting front, I did finish the Malabrigo vest, but it needs to be blocked.  I did start on a pair of socks out of this.

First socks I have cast on in over a month.  Gasp….a month you ask?  Yep.  I was just ‘done in’ over the Loksin socks I was working on.  I worked an entire cuff.  Without trying it on.  It.  Did.  Not.  Fit.   Arghhhhhh!    It has a new life though and will become a handwarmer.  Someday.   At anyrate this twisted yarn is going to be a pair of Scrunchie..socks or maybe handwarmers, haven’t made up my mind on that.  Nice having choices, hmm!

On the agility front, we (Jake, Gracie and I) competed in an agility trial on Thanksgiving weekend.  We should’ve mailed our money in instead, LOL.  Actually, Gracie did very nice, she completed her teeter AND offside weaves the first day.  We  had little flukey things happen like a refusal of a tire or I took my eye off my dog for too many split seconds, etc.  Although we did not get any Qs, we still had some nice runs.  I won’t talk about Jake running and hiding under the A frame….mumble, mumble…..

Do you have any Christmas knitting you are working on?   Will you make it on time?

Last year, I finished my last promised Christmas present in February.  Never again (I hope).  I decided I would make something and if it was done in time, they would get it and if it was not, they would get something else.  I don’t like knitting because I have to.

It is my purpose in life, one of them anyway, to torture Jan with hints of what one of or some of her presents may be.  Time to throw out a hint for sadly blogless Jan in Murfreesboro, hmmm, letseeeee…..  One thing is a study in abstract…..a blank canvas so to speak.  What could it beeee?
