All Good Things Must Come to an End

July 31st, 2007 by Leah

Who said that anyway?  We should find them and put them out of their misery.  Anyway, that being said, my vacation ends today and I go back to four letter word W-O-R-K.  Actually, I don’t mind that much, but I really enjoy having time to do the things I want to do.  I guess this just gives me an incentive to work that much harder to I can retire while I can enjoy it.  I am also going to start buying a lottery ticket each week.

I mentioned the other day that I had a felted bag idea floating around in my head for a few years.  Well, the idea is now a tangible item…I called it the Medusa Bag.  My Mom said it looks like a Mermaid bag and I agree with that too.  Instead of snakes, the squiggles ‘could’ be seaweed.  Call it what you like.  It is a very cute clutch bag that is crying to be taken somewhere fun.  After it dries, it will let me know what kind of closure to put on it.  I am thinking dichroic glass, but that is not a sure thing yet.

Medusa Bag  p1000874.JPG    p1000875.JPG

This bag is being donated and will be sold in a silent auction this weekend.  The benefit is for Melania Del Villaggio who is a World Agility Team Member.  Prefelted, the bag measured 11″ long x 5.75″ high.  After felting, the bag measures 10.5″ long x 4.5″ high.

p1000819.JPG Several people have asked how Kirby is doing over the last week.  We switched his meds last week and took him off of the prednisone.  He is now taking Metacam (osteoarthritis pain med) and antibiotics.  He has actually gained back to 9 lbs which means he is up half a pound.  He has been eating a little better and that makes Me feel better.  The last few nights, he has been very restless and turned all the rugs upside down in the bathroom and he turned his bed upside down too.  This tells me he is not comfortable and cannot find a good place or position to lie in to sleep.  I visited the vet today and got a different kind of pain med to give him at night to give him a little rest.  Let’s hope that works.  This is not to say that Kirby is out of the woods.  Kirby is a little ole man and has lived a pretty good life since he came to live with my little family.  We are taking life one day at a time and appreciating the time that we have to share with him.  We tell him everyday that we love him and make sure he gets his share of loving.  The other dogs are eternally jealous of his home cooked meals, but I am sure they understand (well, I do anyway).  Thanks for asking.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho it’s off to work I go tomorrow…..  no more sleeping late.   Drats.

R&R

July 30th, 2007 by Leah

I have been on vacation for the past week and have begun to get used to not waking to an alarm clock.  My internal clock is letting me wake later and go to bed later.  Alas, only two more days of “the life.”  I go back to work (four letter word) on Wednesday.  The good news is….I have two more days.  I really do value that!

What have I done so far?  Well, I did several things and enjoyed myself immensely.  I visited Jan in Clarksville last Tuesday.  Jan from Murfreesboro and I each took a wheel with us and we spun, traded gifts, ate a wonderful lunch and enjoyed each other’s company.  We don’t get to visit Clarksville Jan too often so it is a special treat.  Clarksville Jan gifted me with a beautiful hank of Mountain Colors Mountain Tango Targhee.  It is oh so soft and finely spun.  I can see a pair of socks in my future made from this wonderful gift.  She also gifted me with a journal, Summer Fruits merino/tussah blend and a diz.  I will share pictures of that another day.  Clarksville Jan is one of the best spinners I know.  Check this out:

Mtn Colors - Mtn Tango Targhee p1000870.JPG

While we were at Clarksville Jan’s house, Murfreesboro Jan found a pound of Spunky Burning Embers in my stash that decided it needed to go live with her.  We later traded two different things.  I think we are both happy with our trades (I L-O-V-E mine!).  First, there was the green and purple wool blend in her basket and we have had a time figuring out what it is exactly and where it came from.  It now resides in my stash.  Purple and green Are my fav colors ya know.

p1000872.JPG purple and green mix

A couple of days later, I asked Murfreesboro Jan if the Spinning Bunny Hibiscus merino/tencel blend might be available to complete the trade.  I cannot believe I am so lucky.  I am spinning this stuff now.  If you look in the dictionary, you will find this under “Buttah.”

p1000865.JPG   p1000862.JPG (just started today)

I received the latest Spunky shipment and it is Shetland and named Celebration.  I spun this and made it into a three ply yarn.  I used two plies of the Celebration and one ply of black Kid Seta.  The Celebration had so many different colors that it needed something to tie it all together, hence the third ply of the Kid Seta.  i love it.  I ended up with 209 yards at 12 WPI.  This is a little thicker than I usually spin and this was done on purpose.  I have been playing with being able to spin different thicknesses (on purpose) and being consistent.  Kid Seta is a really nice yarn to ply with.  It gives a slight halo and the silk in this yarn really adds softness.  If you have not tried plying with it, I highly recommend it.  This was a very fast spin and done in no time.
.
 p1000866.JPG  Spunky Celebration

I am always surprised at how roving completely changes when you spin it.  I forgot to take pics of my Celebration before I spun it, so I got Murfreesboro Jan to take pics of hers for me to share with you.  Note that my Celebration did not have any purple in it.  I think mine had much more Goldenrod and/or black.

A couple of years ago, the English Garden Shawl craze hit Haus of Yarn and I made one out of Mtn Colors Mohair - Bitterroot Rainbow.  My Mom took immediate possession and loves it and refuses to part with it.  I knit another not too long after that and gifted my sister with it for Christmas.  This shawl has been on my ‘list’ as it is a very lightweight, yet warm garment and the Mtn Colors Mohair is so nice to work with too.  As a gift to myself, I got to cast on and work on my very own Lupine English Garden.  It is a little more than 1/4 done.

p1000868.JPG Lupine English Garden Shawl

At the beginning of last week, I plied the Big Valley Spunky which is a superwash merino.  This looks to be a little heavy for a fingering weight sock, so I am going back to the wheel and will work on spinning the hibiscus shown above in a lighter weight yarn.  What  shame that I have to do that, hmm?  NOT.   Life is good.

I started out with 4 oz and ended up with approx 250 yards, little heavier than fingering.

p1000869.JPG  Can you tell that this color is in my color box quite often?  I cannot help myself it looks like.

While on vacation, I did dabble in a little stash acquisition.  I must say  that I could have gone hog wild, but I tried to be good.  Haus of Yarn got half of their Shibui shipment in and two hanks went home with me last Wednesday and then two more yesterday.  I couldn’t help it…..  I also got a Lana Grossa sock yarn just because…..I liked the color, yeah that’s it.

p1000871.JPG left to right - Shibui, Lana Grossa Stile and Shibui

Murfreesboro Jan insists on making me step out of my food ‘box’ and try new things.  I went to Tin Angel last Wednesday and then to a Peruvian restaurant the other day.  I still love my old favorites.

I met a great new person through Dog Gone Delivery this weekend too.  A lady just moved here from Texas and has more dogs than I do.  She had a cute little girl Pap named Thelma that I fell in love with.  I would have loved to stuck her in my pocket and took her home.  A cute little black and white Pap girl.  Awwww

Saturday afternoon took me, Jake, Gracie and Luc to a friend’s house (Nora).  I had dinner with Nora and her hubby, Riley.  Nora is T-H-E most fabulous photographer.  She says she is not creative, but I beg to differ (loudly).   She showed me some incredible bird photos.  She caught a hummer with his tongue sticking out.  That lady has some patience and a great deal of talent.  I told her she needs to retire from her day job and take up a new occupation.  She took pics of Jake, Gracie and Luc and printed some out for me on the spot.  I just love my pictures.  My Mom came to swim today and I had to check her pocketbook when she left to make sure she had not absconded with any of them.

You can see all photos in the photo albums by picking the button over in the right column titled Pictures-Dogs and Knitting.   You can also see them by going to Agile Knitter’s Picture Trail

I am working on a new design.  It is going to be a felted clutch Medusa bag.  I am using Lamb’s Pride worsted and Squiggle.  This idea has been floating around in my head for a long time now.  This bag will be donated to the benefit that will be held this coming Saturday for Melanie Del Villaggio, US World Agility Team Member.  I train with her in agility and am so proud she will be representing the US and Tennessee.  She will be competing with Dara, Sheltie, in a few months in Norway.  Go Melanie!!!  I will share pics of the bag when there is something to share.  The idea just got off of the backburner….

I stayed up late to post this as you have been very patient and understanding in waiting for new posts.  I will sleep late in the morning with a clear conscience (hehe).

Vacation!

July 25th, 2007 by Leah

Hello, hello…..I apologize for just dropping off of the radar without warning.  Last week was very hectic and stressful.  I rounded out the week by working 10 hours on Sunday to kick off my vacation this week.

I get to pretty much do what I want to do until I go back to work Wed, Aug 1st.  Yah.  So far, I have fixed a fence, cleaned the pool, picked up a load of dog food, and that was the work part.  For fun, Jan and I went to Clarksville to visit another friend named Jan.  We had so much fun.  We spun, ate, talked, compared roving, gave each other wonderful gifts, etc.  Jan in Clarksville gifted each of us a handspun hank of sock yarn.  Very yummy!  She also gave each of us a gift basket with wool wash, a homemade horn diz and 4 oz of Summer Fruit roving.  Yum again!  I promise to share pictures tomorrow.

I also plied and hung my Big Valley (Poison) sock yarn out to dry.  I will share pics of that later tomorrow as well.

I am off to shop with my Mom at a TJ Maxx Home Goods store tomorrow.  Fun….   Sleeping late is on the calendar too.  Oh, I forgot to mention….a pedicure was on the calendar today too.  Jan rose with me and waited while I was pampered.  We then went to Haus of Yarn.   They have half of their Shibui shipment in and a BUNCH of new sock yarn.  We went to the Tin Angel to eat afterward.

bye for now, thanks for being patient.

Spunky Haul

July 19th, 2007 by Leah

All week I have drug out sharing pictures of my latest Spunky haul, but not on purpose.  Work has been crazy this week and I every minute has been filled to the max.  I have not knit since this past weekend.  Wow.

Anyway, I have not figured out how to make the cool collages of pictures yet, so I will just have to do it the old way.  This go round, I ordered different fibers from Spunky.  I ordered 100% merino blend, Romney, BFL (my favorite so far), wool/bamboo blend and a batt.  I think Romney’s characteristics allow this wool to take the dye in such a way that the colors are very vibrant.  High highly recommend Romney for that reason.  When you FEEL (read almost rolling in it) BFL though you are most likely to forego the brilliance in color just to have the feel and still have a beautiful color, just not as vibrant.  The wool/bamboo is very pretty.  I have not spun with this type of fiber before, so that will be an adventure.  So now, for the goods…
.
After placing my order and realizing that I had gone just hog wild, I was expecting to see a huge box on my doorstep when the order came.  I was amazed to see THIS on my porch:  p1000842.JPG  I guess good things do come in little packages.
.
I am not a Batt girl, but fell in love with this Baron batt for some reason.  It is wool and silk noil. p1000846.JPG

No time to knit or spin…

July 18th, 2007 by Leah

Well, I promised more pictures today.   I am past the limit of being swamped and don’t have much time.

I have two spools of Spunky Big Valley (aka Poison) that is a superwash merino that is going to very shortly become sock yarn.  I love this colorway!

 p1000854.JPG

I won’t be able to knit or spin for several days .   Hmm, don’t like the sound of that, but I will make up for lost time next week.   Hopefully!

Drive-By Post

July 17th, 2007 by Leah

Not much time to post today.  I DID get my Spunky shipment.  I also got a hank of yarn I ordered thanks to Erin (Sock Yarn Wars).  I also received a crate tag and CDs of Gracie.

I will post more pics tomorrow.   I am sharing the hank of 100% superwash merino.  Very squishy and sproingy and oh so soft.  The colors are very brilliant and just jump out and grab you!  Now, I have n-e-v-e-r been a huge fan of orange, but this yarn does have some orange in it.

Calm Before the Storm

July 16th, 2007 by Leah

Nice, calm, quiet relaxing weekend.  Two days off in a row.  Ni-i-i-i-ce!

Saturday was the day the spinning group meets.  While it is not an official guild, the group meets the second Saturday of each month (except December).  There is an ever-changing group of women that meet, spin, have a potluck, and learn and commune with each other.  Erin, Sock Knitter Extraordinaire, stepped out her knitting box and met with the spinners this Saturday.  She started out on an Ashford Espinner.  Once she got the hang of drafting, she moved on to a Majacraft Rose.  She was able to spin and actually had a consistent yarn.  I was so glad she came and tried it.  I think she will try it again as this experience whetted her appetite for spinning.

p1000690.JPG Sunday, Luc and I were invited for a playdate at Carolyn and Sophie’s house.  Sophie is a verrrry cute 4-mo old Rat Terrier.  Luc is my 3-yr old Papillon, aka Escape Artist.  Luc was a gentleman and was very good during the play date.  He greeted Sophie and somewhat made friends with her older brother Ernie (a Fiest).  Before we knew it, Carolyn and I watched Luc and Sophie zoom around the house and have fun.  While Luc zoomed, Sophie was in turbo charge mode.  She ran rings around Luc and expended a lot of puppy energy.  Carolyn and I organized her Koigu somewhat by color and Sophie and Luc napped.  I think they both had fun and hopefully Luc will receive a future invitation to come and play again.  He does not get to play that often with a dog his size and I think he enjoyed getting to go off somewhere without the rest of his ‘brothers and sisters.’

The calm before the storm comes in to play by the nice relaxing weekend, then heading into what will be a very busy week.  I am taking next week off and you always have to try to cram an extra week’s work into one week when you do that.  It will be worth it though!

What do I plan on doing next week on vacation????  Very little is planned.  I do have plans to visit a dear friend one day with Jan.  We are going to celebrate her birthday, spin, eat and enjoy the day.  The rest of the time will be spent not waking up to alarm clocks, spinning, knitting, napping, swimming, agility classes and whatever else I can think up.  I plan on enjoying my time off thoroughly and should have LOTS of fiber related things to share with you as I will actually have time to finish things

Speaking of finishing things, I got a good look inside Erin’s knitting bag Saturday.  Gasp.  There were quite a few socks on needles.   Read multiple socks.  Read first socks, not the second socks.  Read, I no longer feel guilty about having more than one pair of socks going at a time.  She said she had three or four bags just like that at home!  She committed to a sock yarn diet for three months.

Erin, if you are reading this, I think you should change your goal or limit to allowing yourself to purchase more sock yarn each time you finish a pair of socks.  Your socks are fabulous.  Do you keep them all or gift any of them?

Sheep and Shopping

July 13th, 2007 by Leah

 (sock progress at the end)
.
Sheep, Oh My….I have sheep.  Little Cute Stitch Marker Sheep.   Too CUTE!
p1000834.JPG
Sadly blogless Jan is one my most favorite people on this planet.  She and I are such good friends.  Oddly enough, before we met each other, we bought roving at the same place in the same color.  Soon after we met, we were both spinning and pulled out our fiber and had the VERY same stuff.  When we shop, we find ourselves drawn to the same colors.  Now, that is not to say that we always choose the same thing, but it sure makes it easy when choosing a gift for someone.  For her, I know that if ‘I’ like it ‘she’ will like it.   She is always surprising me with little things.  I think this may be an extra excuse to shop, but Hey, I am all for it.  I LOVE surprises.  Anyway, back to sheep.  I wrote not too long about Boxes where I find myself continually doing some of the same thing and being stuck in the same box, like choosing the same colors, going to the same restaurants, etc.    Jan is very eclectic and is widely traveled and enjoys ethnic food.  The other day, I was telling her about where a restaurant was and said it was near some weird nationality restaurant.  When I told her that, she immediately knew where I was talking about and said she loved that place and they serve Turkish food.  So last night after a nice finish to the beaded scarf class, I agreed to go try Turkish food with Jan.  That is not to say that I was thrilled about it, but I was doing this because she wanted me to and because I was trying to climb out of my BOX.  The interior of the restaurant was surprisingly very pleasant (read:  Not a Dive).  The people working there were very nice, professional and entertaining as well as knowledgeable.  The food was excellent and now I think I am a little more willing to step out of the box without being so hesitant.  Maybe.  Well, I did try it and did like it….   Anyway, she had a gift with her for me for being brave and stepping out of my box. Sheep, little sheep.  Oh, I love them. p1000835.JPG While we are on the subject of gifts.  I posted Wednesday that it was Bobbe’s birthday and I included a picture of her wrapped gift.  I did mention what was in the box and though you might like to take a peek at what was in there.  I have to admit that I bought one for me too.  I liked it that much.
.
p1000841.JPG
.
While I was shopping for Bobbe’s gift, I looked for a handmixer.  I have lost mine and figured that it would be cheaper to go find one than kill myself searching for the one I have or did have.  To back up a little, I was going to make this heavenly cheese dip for a potluck at work and went to get my mixer out to whip the cream cheese and could not find my mixer.  I am going to a spinner’s group meeting tomorrow and want to make that dip for potluck….so I needed a new mixer.  Target has several mixers and I was trying to choose.  I ended up choosing a mixer, not for the mixer’s features or looks, but for it’s storage feature.  I am a sucker for storage or organizing things and this one just drew me right in.
.
p1000839.JPG   p1000840.JPG
I will be making the Heavenly Cheese Dip for tomorrow’s event and thought you might like the recipe.  It is fabulous! (recipe at end of post) I was at a big group event a month ago or so and someone had it and everyone loved it so much, they wrote the recipe down.  Good thing, I love this stuff! I recently posted an answer about cotton sock yarn to Socknitters and realized that I never posted a picture of the finished Cotton Panda Seaside sock:
.
p1000836.JPG
I also finished the first Under Currents sock made from Lorna’s Laces Worsted.
.
p1000838.JPG
Tomorrow, Erin is going to come and spin with our group.  She is stepping out of her box and will be learning to spin.  Rrin, you just don’t know what can of worms New Door you are opening.  So much fiber, so little time…..  She is a sock knitter and I can see some handspun sock yarn in her future!  Congrats on stepping out of your box, Erin.

Great Morning/Gray Day

July 11th, 2007 by Leah

Great day out there and things are pretty okay today.   Kirby ate his boiled egg and hamburger meat concoction.                                                        (Click pictures to embiggen)
Lacey p1000833.JPG  looked longingly while he did (and barked vehemently from time to time).  Gray day just spitting rain outside.  We surely shouldn’t complain though, I think my grass gave up on rain a month ago.  My lawn service has not been to visit since sometime in May.  I have been thinking of asking them to come trim the weeds at least.  Ha.  They manage to grow no matter what.  We need to figure out how to take that gene (or whatever it is) and splice it into grass to make a beautiful lawn no matter what.  Okay, someone there is a million $$$ idea.
Progress, I have sock progress!  I posted a picture of this sock yesterday while at the same time posting about handpaint yarn and how different stitches and patterns can really make a difference in how the color presents itself in the finished product.  Looking at this sock, I would say it is a good example of what NOT to do with handpaint yarn, yet I still like it.  I posted two pictures of socks using slipped stitch patterns that made the yarn even out and looked very nice.  I am also working on a new pattern, Steppe N Out, using Jitterbug.  Now, this is a GREAT example of how a pattern can properly present colors in handpaint yarn.
.
Jitterbug, Steppe N Out p1000637.JPG
.
So, progress for today is my sock that I calling Under Currents.  It reminds me of the currents under the water that can suck you in.  There is movement, but maybe not when you look at the surface.  Interestingly enough, I think there is a pond scum color in this sock would disagree with the movement theory, so they could almost be called Paradox socks as well.  At any rate, I love, love, love the heel.  Very Fair Isle-y looking.  That is one great thing I enjoy about this heel pattern…very simple, but great looking.  It would be nice to figure out a slipped stitch pattern that would make this happen throughout the sock.  Working on size 5 needles sure does get you there quicker.  I was foundering on a size 1 on my Cotton Panda Seascapes socks (gasp, the second one) so I decided to take a break and knit a bigger sock.
.
Under Currents p1000828.JPG
.
Dontcha just love this heel???  Notice the sock blockers too, specially made just for meee

Decision time will be here soon.  How long do I make theses socks?  If in doubt, I make them to fit meeee.  If I have a recipient in mind, I will make it to fit them.  Decisions, decisions.  The real decision is do I cast on right away and make that second sock?????  Hmmm.  Usually the answer is “NAH.”   That is where good notes come in….six months or a year later.  Actually, I created a sock worksheet where you can document what you did on the first to make the second sock easier.  The key to that worksheet is (drumrolll) USING it.  I made it up and give a copy in my classes I teach, but do I use it?????     Here comes that NAH word again.  Actually, I have used it and really should.  Maybe that is something I will make resolution to do going forward.    NAH…..uh, Okay, okay.  Really, I need to.  Hey, me a little credit, I did mention that I was working on the SECOND Cotton Panda sock.     Yah    I do have a sign hanging my dining room that says:   “Here take my advice..I am not using it!”
.
Oh I almost forgot.  I have a funny story to share. I was looking at Koigu the other day (imagine that) and made a side comment about all of the bright, obnoxious orange colors that were there.  I got to looking at what would match or look good with it and color combinations and just look what came home with me.  That’ll teach me to make fun of something. What was I thinking???
.

Being Nice/Bribes.   When I place an order with the distributor I purchase from for my little company called Dog Gone Delivery, I know the truck driver will be coming in an 18-wheeler the next week to deliver.  It is usually on a weekday which means I have to leave work, pick up the delivery, take it home and put it in my freezer (read, raw frozen dog food), then head back to work.  Sometimes, just sometimes, the driver gets in on Tuesday nights.  If he is feeling generous, he will call me to come pick up on Tuesday nights….which is wonderful.  I have been mulling over in my mind something that I could do to be nice to him.  Not only because I know he works hard and I want to do something nice, but to give him an incentive to call me for delivery pickups on Tuesday nights.   I finally hit on the right solution!
.
Cranberry, Walnut, Oatmeal Cookies!   p1000831.JPG Yum.   I almost burned slightly overcooked the first batch and quickly made another when I knew he was almost nearby.  When he called, he was parked for the night.   I went to pick up my delivery and helped me unload the truck (what a nice guy!).    I think he was pretty happy to get those cookies.  I think they will go well with the beer he was about to purchase at the convenience market nearby.    Hmm, oatmeal cookies and beer????    A new fad maybe?    NAH, not me anyway.  Speaking of being nice/bribes, I left the last couple of cookies on the counter for my Mom for her to find when she comes to let the puppers out at lunch time.  I can hear her say now “all bribes gladly accepted!”
.
Birthdays, who has a birthday????  p1000830.JPG
.
Bobbe Morris that works at
Haus of Yarn is celebrating her 70th birthday today.  Amazing!!!  For one thing, you would never know it was her 70th.  Bobbe has one of those bubbly personalities and everyone just loves her.  She is really zany and loves putting purple or pink streaks in her hair.  She also has been known to wear some of those Z Coil sandals at the shop.  I keep waiting for her to boing around the store.  We are having a surprise luncheon for her at the store and a special cake was ordered just for her that has a Sunflower on it.  For those of you that do not know Bobbe, almost whatever she knits always gets some kind of ruffle on it.  It is her signature pizazzer.    Happy Birthday Bobbe!  Are you asking what is in the box???  Well, I found the coolest thing that I would really like, so I got two of them yesterday at Target.  Now, that is the way to shop…..one for me, one for you.  yepper.    Anyway, it is a microwave steamer.  8 cup capacity with 17 things to go with it.  You can steam rice, veggies and something else (forget what) in it.  Oh, yeah, pasta, that is the other thing.  it comes iwth measuring cups, measuring spoons, a thing to measure out spaghetti with and I forget what else.  I often don’t get my bigger veggie steamer out, but would use a small one to go in a microwave.  Pretty cool thing, hope she likes her as much as I do mine!
Going to eat cake.  Yum

Handpaint Yarn

July 10th, 2007 by Leah

I have seen quite a few posts lately where people are asking about patterns for handpaint yarn and wanted to talk a little bit about this.  HP yarn is beautiful by itself, but if you use the right stitch or pattern combination, HP yarn can be stunning.  The key is to play on the color and make the color stand out here and there.  Slipped stitch patterns are great ways to highlight HP yarn.  Handpaint Highlights is a sock pattern I designed last year that uses slipped stitches and brings out the stunning colors of the yarn.  This pattern is available as a single pattern and it was also published in the book One Skein Wonders late last year as well.  I am working on another pattern, but have not finished it yet.  If you have a favorite sock pattern and your favorite parts include the heel and toe, find a slipped stitch pattern that you like as well and use that in conjunction with your favorite pattern to create something new and beautiful.  I will caution you that you need to be aware that some slipped stitch patterns can be tricky because some do not have a lot of ‘give’ and will make your sock too tight to pull over your heel.  Keeping that in mind, go have fun. I have two pictures of the Handpaint Highlight sock to share

What am I working on now?    I am still working on a Crystal Palace Cotton Panda Seascape sock, but got bored with it and have this other sock that has been on my mind for multiple years.  I finally found a yarn that said it wanted to be this particular sock.  I was sad about Kirby Saturday night and let myself start this new sock to try and help make me feel a little better.  This sock is from the Socks, Socks, Socks book and it is called Dad’s Easy Cables – a worsted weight sock pattern.
